St. Kitts Named Among Top 2018 Destinations by Bloomberg News

St. Kitts, the island nation that is home to UMHS, was the sole Caribbean destination among 22 global travel “hot spots” named by Bloomberg News in its article Where to Go in 2018.

The UMHS Endeavour takes a look at the article and also new nonstop flights to St. Kitts from Atlanta and New York.

St. Kitts Among ‘Compelling’ Destinations

Bloomberg News named St. Kitts among 22 “compelling destinations,” including places ranging from Salvador, Brazil to Dundee, Scotland to Namibia, Los Angeles and New Orleans.

“St. Kitts has pulled off a beach-escape hat trick: It feels untouched while being both comfortable and convenient,” said BloombergPursuits in the post. “A  quarter of it is preserved as American oceanic rainforest, perfect for hiking through pristine wilderness, but the island also offers the infinity pools and beachfront cafes travelers hope for in a luxe vacation.”

Bloomberg notes that, in addition being spared from the hurricanes that wreaked havoc in the Caribbean last fall, St. Kitts is noteworthy for the brand-new, 126-room Park Hyatt Christophe Harbor, which opened in November 2017. The five-star resort is on the southern tip of St. Kitts, featuring luxury suites and pools overlooking the Caribbean. The Park Hyatt is part of Christophe Harbor, a new luxury development and marina with upscale shopping.

Getting named as a luxury destination has been thrilling indeed for St. Kitts officials.

“It is an honor to be named among the 22 destinations that Bloomberg is recommending as ideal for travelers in 2018,” Minister of Tourism, International Trade, Industry and Commerce Lindsay Grant told the website Caribbean 360. “With the recent debut of the new Park Hyatt St Kitts Christophe Harbour in November and the beginning of peak season, the continued inclusion of the island among lists of top places to go helps us build brand awareness and drive bookings from our target markets.”

New Nonstops from Atlanta & New York

Now those wanting to visit St. Kitts can get there with ease on new nonstop flights from two U.S. cities. Delta debuted a weekly nonstop Saturday flight last month from New York’s JFK and a weekly nonstop Tuesday flight from Atlanta starting January 9, 2018 and continuing through March 27, 2018, according to an airline news release.

Nonstop flights on Saturdays are also available from New York and Charlotte on American Airlines, from Newark on United, and on Air Canada from Toronto, according to airline websites.
