    Transfer to UMHS

If you have already begun pursuing an M.D. at another university, you are welcome to apply for the opportunity to complete your degree at UMHS. Students transferring to UMHS benefit from the small classes, personalized education, state-of-the-art facilities, and great outcomes on USMLE Steps 1 and 2.

    Transfer policy

We consider transfer applicants from similarly structured M.D. programs on a per-case basis.

If you are transferring from an M.D. program at another university, you may only enter our program in the fifth semester or earlier. UMHS does not accept transfer students directly into the third or fourth-year Clinical Science Program. Students who have completed USMLE Step I and wish to transfer must pass a shortened, modified fifth semester, which still includes the Introduction of Clinical Medicine II course.

To be considered for admission with advanced standing, you must meet all UMHS prerequisite requirements, including completion of all required undergraduate courses. You must also submit the following along with your completed application for admission:

    • Official transcripts from your prior medical school(s)
    • A letter from the Dean of your prior medical school
    • NBME COMP scores (if applicable)
    • Official copies of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts (if applicable)
    • Two letters of recommendation
    • A personal essay
    • The $75 nonrefundable application fee
    • MCAT scores (if applicable)
    • USMLE results for all attempts made (if applicable)

To see your application eligibility, please email the items listed below to the Director of Enrollment Management, Shyam Dharia (sdharia@umhs-sk.net):

    • All medical school transcripts (in transcript format, not grade format)
    • All NBME COMP attempts (If your school does not administer the COMP exam, then attach
any equivalent STEP I qualifying exam attempts)
