the highlight of our semester
• semester halfway point
• beach day
This past Saturday, July 12, 2014, many of our students and faculty joined together at Reggae Beach to take in some sun rays, play volleyball and cool off in the luscious Caribbean Sea. After a particularly grueling Block 2 exam round, it was nice to kick back and relax. It was also a welcome sight to see your fellow students outside of the classroom setting.
The Student Government Association (SGA) did a fantastic job planning and operating a fun beach day that went off without a hitch. From paddle boarding to kayaking, volleyball to the classic Cuban dominoes game, there was something for everyone to do and smiles all around. SGA also sold custom UMHS bottle coolers and workout clothing to fundraise for the upcoming clinician’s banquet on July 19, 2014. This was an excellent fundraiser and a great way to distribute UMHS paraphernalia.
It was a pleasure to meet the families and loved ones of some of our faculty as well. With the pressure of exams a faint memory in our minds, everyone was able to let loose and enjoy their day. It was a stunning, sunny day without a cloud in the sky. It’s a shame we only have this opportunity once a semester. More opportunities are needed to take time to appreciate St Kitts. Until the next Sunfest, cheers! Good luck on finals.
