    If you’ve completed a common application through AMCAS, AACOMAS, OMSAS, or TMDSAS, you can use a PDF version for your UMHS application to help speed up the process!     Once you submit your application, our admissions team carefully reviews your materials to understand your academic background and goals. 

    Qualified applicants are then invited to interview, giving you the opportunity to share your passion for medicine and learn more about the UMHS community. 

    After the interview, admissions decisions are typically issued quickly—so you can move forward with confidence and take the next step in your journey to becoming a physician.

    FAQs about applying to UMHS
    How long does the application take to complete?

    It takes about 5 minutes to start your application and roughly 30 minutes to complete. You can save your progress and return at any time.

    Can I save my application and finish later?

    Yes. Your application can be saved at any time, allowing you to return later to complete remaining sections or upload documents.

    Can I upload my AMCAS or other common application?

    Yes. If you have completed a common application through AMCAS, AACOMAS, OMSAS, or TMDSAS, you can upload a PDF version within your UMHS application. This allows you to skip re-entering much of your academic and personal information.

    What documents do I need to apply?

    You will need transcripts (from all colleges and universities you’ve attended) and two letters of recommendation. If you have completed a common application, uploading it may reduce the amount of information you need to enter.

    Do I need the MCAT to apply?

    U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and applicants who completed undergraduate studies in the U.S. are required to submit MCAT scores taken within the past three years. Canadian and international applicants are not required to submit the MCAT, but if you have taken it, all attempts must be reported. Uploading a screenshot of your scores in the application is the easiest way to submit them.

    Is there an application fee?

    UMHS requires a $75 nonrefundable application fee, which can be paid online or by check or money order. Payment instructions will be provided during the application process.

    When will I hear back after submitting my application?

    Once your application and supporting documents are received, the Faculty Admissions Committee conducts a preliminary review. Qualified applicants are invited for a personal interview, and our admissions team typically responds within a few hours.

    When can I start the program?

    UMHS offers three start terms each year: January, May, and September. Applications are reviewed on a rolling admissions basis, so you may apply at any time for an upcoming term.
