UMHS Seats its Inaugural Class

The University of Medicine and Health Sciences (UMHS) is pleased to announce that it seated its inaugural medical school class of 22 students on May 12, 2008.

UMHS students complete their basic science curriculum at the state of the art campus located in St. Kitts. The St. Kitts campus has two 150-seat auditoriums, technologically advanced laboratories, a 24-bed virtual hospital utilizing human simulators, and an 11,000 square foot anatomy laboratory. The campus also includes the International University of Nursing (IUON).

Fifth semester UMHS students move to the UMHS campus located in Portland, Maine. The 5th semester program gives UMHS students the opportunity to work with a team of experienced physicians in actual patient care settings at several hospitals, clinics, and

office health centers around the Portland area. During semesters 6-10, UMHS students complete their clinical rotations at U.S. teaching hospitals affiliated with UMHS.

UMHS students receive medical training that is comparable to that of U.S. medical schools. They sit for the United States Licensing Examinations (USMLE), compete for U.S. residency positions after graduation, and ultimately become licensed to practice medicine in the United States or Canada.
