Dr. Adegbenro O. J. Fakoya is an Associate Professor of Gross & Developmental Anatomy and Histology at the University of Medicine and Health Sciences, St. Kitts and Nevis.

He graduated from the Premiere Medical University (University of Ibadan, Nigeria). He worked for many years as a General Physician, then Site Coordinator and the Clinical Specialist on the antiretroviral therapy for the International Center for AIDS Care and Treatment Programs (ICAP), affiliated with the School of Public Health (Columbia University, USA).

Later in his career, he was a Teaching and Research Fellow at the Department of Anatomical Sciences, St. George’s University School of Medicine (Grenada). In the last five years, he was honored for his hard and successful work as the Associate Professor of Anatomical Sciences, Course Director of Histology and Cell Biology, was faculty advisor to several organizations including the American Medical Students Association (AMSA), Member and Chair of several committees, and the Dean of Students Affairs at the All Saints University (Dominica). As an avid learner and researcher, he had obtained his Master of Science Diploma in the Stem Cells and Regeneration at the University of Bristol, one of the top universities in the United Kingdom, as well as, the Post-Graduate Diploma in Echocardiography from the University of Vienna (Austria) and the Fellowship in Molecular Biology/Gene editing/CRISPR-Cas9 techniques from the University of Verona (Italy).

He currently holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with specializations in Health care and Hospital management and Clinical Research Management and is currently running a Post-Graduate Certificate in Genetics and Genomics at the Stanford University (USA).
His successful performance on the USMLE and AMC examinations, has also enhanced his active involvement in teaching and preparing students for the USMLE and other medical exams. His teaching style has earned him several students awards such as; Lecturer of the semester award, outstanding teaching award, best lecturer award, 2 hours of learning and fun, supportive lecturer award, among many others.

He has published and reviewed several papers in high-impact journals indexed/abstracted in PubMed, also currently an Academic editor to a peer review journal. His research interest is largely in the field of the Cardiovascular Anatomy, Biologics and Regeneration. He is an Instructor of the American Heart Association (AHA) and he is a member of the International Society of Stem Cells Research (ISSCR).
