Welcome Week, held this year for incoming basic science and ARP students at UMHS in St. Kitts from August 29 to September 4, 2016, featured a wide range of fun activities to help new students get acquainted.

UMHS staff and faculty introduced future doctors to life in St. Kitts and the UMHS campus. The fun began as new students were met at Robert L. Bradshaw Airport in St. Kitts by smiling members of the UMHS Welcome Committee.

Highlights of Fun

Highlights of Welcome Week included a ride on the St. Kitts Scenic Railway for UMHS students and family members, offering a three-hour tour of the beautiful island paradise on the island’s old railway built between 1912 and 1926 to transport sugar cane. A final day of sun and fun was held at the President’s Beach Bash at Reggae Beach Bar with UMHS President Warren Ross.

The UMHS Endeavour asked Sean Powers, UMHS Director of Admissions, to comment on Welcome Week.

“I am pleased to again have had the opportunity to greet our incoming basic science and ARP students in St. Kitts,” he said.  “It’s always a satisfying feeling to see these students we’ve worked closely with through the past year arrive and begin the journey toward earning their MD.  UMHS is like a family and it is also especially satisfying to welcome these students into our community.”
