Cardin Home Praises UMHS Students

UMHS Caribbean medical school students raised over 1,000 EC (East Caribbean dollars) for purchasing much-needed essentials for the Cardin Home in St. Kitts. The Cardin Home, with 80 residents from ages 19 to 99, provides refuge for people with different physical and mental disorders. In a new YouTube video message, the head nurse of Cardin Home expresses her gratitude for the generosity shown by the UMHS student body.

This past spring, the UMHS Pulse reported on A Gift from the Heart, a project inspired by UMHS and Walden University with the help of UMHS’s African Student Association (ASA). Members of the ASA have also donated clothing and volunteered their time.

Those who aren’t planning a visit to St. Kitts but wish to help the Cardin Home can send donations directly via Tropical Shipping. Label it as a donation to “Cardin Home St. Kitts,” Attn: Gil Cranstoun.

For more information, check out “A Gift from the Heart” on Facebook and contact UMHS student Angelica Garcia at agarcia@umhs-sk.net
