African Student Association Taste of the World Parade of Nations Event

As for the final event of the semester (being the Taste of the World Parade of Nations), the members of ASA (African Student Association) wanted the students of UMHS to see and meet the very children that the money raised all semester long was intended for; that in such efforts, we wanted to make tangible the cause in which their donations all went to and towards.

In this idea of a Pre-Christmas Dinner for the children of the St. Christopher’s Children’s Home, ASA wanted this event to embody the idea of oneness and unity, as we all came together in one accord to help our community.

Students and faculty alike participated by donating a cultural dish to share amongst one another, in celebration of the various nations we have represented here at our school.

In the effort to raise what the children needed, President Ross contributed on behalf of the university a check for $500 to the St. Christopher’s Children Home, in which ASA was proudly able to present to all the kids during the event.

To be able to see the kids step outside the home and enjoy the company of students while coloring, playing board games, finger-painting, and while even getting henna on their hands, we can honestly say that the Taste of the World Parade of Nations Event was a great success.
