Mrs. Rowlands earned a Master of Education in Education and Research from Oxford Brooks University U.K. and a Bachelor of Science from Brunel University U.K. 

Prior to joining UMHS in June 2023, Mrs. Rowlands was at the Barts Medical School, Queen Mary University London. Over 15 years in both the London and Malta campus, Mrs. Rowlands held the positions of Head of Student Support and Head of the Clinical Communication Skills Curriculum. 

Prior to this, Mrs Rowlands held the post of Education Lead at Health Dialog U.K. and was a Senior Lecturer at Thames Valley University where she led a Coronary Care course for nurses and had a successful career as a nurse. 

Mrs. Rowlands's areas of interest are supporting students in their academic studies, diversity in medical education, and helping students integrate communication skills into their practice.
