Professor of Anatomy, Course Director of Neuroscience
Dr. Odutola received all his academic diplomas from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria with specialization in anatomy/neuroscience and his specialist professional (residency) training in general and neurological surgery in Area Health Hospitals (as they were then known) in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, United Kingdom.
As an academician, he has broad foundational research training in the fields of embryonic neural cell culture, histochemistry, electron microscopy and neuropharmacology (microintophoresis). His post-doctoral training was in a world class and leading Swedish laboratory collaborating in their seminal ongoing study of the functional roles of the descending brainstem reticulospinal pathways on spinal motor neurons and consequentially the regulation of muscle tone, posture and movements. His earlier research interests and publications were focused on the somatosensory system and how it interlinks with cerebral control of motor movements.
His teaching career and academic leadership appointments span through several decades across multiple continents. He is a member of several neuro-related societies and serves as a reviewer to few academic publications.
